The sambal was top-notch—perfectly balanced between spicy and slightly sweet. The bakso soup was also delicious; I believe they made the broth using beef stock, which gave it a deep, hearty flavor. “ Very good Indian Muslim food. Nasi beriani, nasi tomato and nasi minyak with all kinds of curries. Dalca kambing and lamb shank are excellent. Other than the usual drinks, they have pre-packed sugarcane juice too which goes well with the spicy food. They also have karipap and fruit pickle to takeaway. Ambience is good. Owner has put up some photo frames and a few deco items. Since it’s on the first floor, it’s breezy. Unfortunately it’s not wheelchair friendly and some seniors may not be able to walk up the stairs. Usually crowded during meal hours. Parking is challenging as the free parking lot just outside, has limited space. ”

“ So my boss brought me here for a coaching session the other day so wasn’t able to enjoy the food then so decided to bring my family this round. The Briyani chicken is wonderful, although they only had lamb curry so I couldn’t enjoy the rice with curry because I’m not a fan of lamb curry, but even without it was tasty. The restaurant is a bit different, they also serve Western food, nasi lemak and Poori or Chapati, which is great - a new teh panas place to lepak. My only eh is that it’s located one floor up and the only way up is steel- narrow stairs, so if you have elderly folks who have difficulty walking then this place will prove to be challenging to climb. It’s not a five but a four because the fries for the chicken chop were burnt, chicken was tasty though. My other eh is that the charges weren’t clear as there isn’t an itemised bill, it’s just a roundup of the cost so they should have proper billing for the customers. For my set, four drinks, one briyani with two chicken, one chicken chop and one mee Mamak it cost us RM70 and I have no idea how much each costed us, just ask for the list next time if you intend to go, otherwise it does seem a bit to the higher end of the price of a briyani. My last eh was When i asked whether they have Poori that I can order, one staff said at 3pm onwards and another said starting 8.30 am already have while the sign says 11.30 operating hours so it’s very confusing no? Anyways try having lunch there, briyani was tasty eitherway. ”

One big plus point straight away — there’s a huge car park right in front of the restaurant, so no stress about finding parking in the middle of the day. Walking up to the restaurant, you get that instant “Ipoh meets nasi kandar” vibe. The dining area is on the upper floor, open-air and breezy, with a nice view of the Ampang neighborhood and hills in the distance. The setup is simple but welcoming — long tables, casual seats, and plenty of space to move around. You can tell it’s the kind of spot that gets busy during lunch breaks, but it doesn’t feel cramped. The first thing that grabs your attention is the buffet-style counter. Big shiny woks filled with curries, fried chicken piled high, daging masala simmering away, and all the different gravies you’d expect from a nasi beriani joint. There’s also a section with claypots and fresh ulam with sambal on the side — a nice touch that makes it feel homely. I went for a mix of nasi beriani and nasi minyak (best of both worlds), topped with kari kambing and daging masala. Honestly, it hit the spot. The rice was fluffy and fragrant, the kambing tender with just the right amount of spice, and the daging masala rich and flavorful. The kind of meal that makes you pause for a moment before diving in for round two. Price-wise, it’s fair for the quality and portion. The menu is pretty extensive too — you’ve got ayam merah, ayam bawang, ayam Madras, kari kambing, plus lighter stuff like roti canai, roti telur, and even desserts like ais kacang and cendol. Drinks are your usual mamak favorites: teh tarik, kopi, Milo, sirap bandung. Basically, something for everyone. What I like most about this place is how convenient and fuss-free it is. Big car park, spacious seating and great food that doesn’t disappoint. It’s also super practical for those coming for Friday prayers at Masjid TAR — makan dulu, then solat, then go back to work with a happy stomach. Will I come again? Definitely yes. Next time I’ll probably try the ayam bawang and maybe throw in some roti canai for good measure. Beriani Ipoh has that “repeat visit” kind of charm — simple, tasty, and reliable. ”
